Geography Is Real: Menengai Caldera Education Tour Menengai Community Forest Association continues to create meaningful learning opportunities for learners through educational tours at the Menengai Caldera. The education tour brings together primary school pupils, secondary school students, and college learners to experience geography beyond the classroom. At Menengai, learners are able to see, study, and understand real volcanic landform features while connecting textbook knowledge with the natural environment around them. During the tour, learners are introduced to the importance of tourism, nature, conservation, and environmental protection. The Menengai Caldera provides a powerful outdoor classroom where students can learn about volcanoes, crater formation, landforms, rocks, forest ecosystems, and the relationship between nature and community livelihoods. This experience helps learners appreciate that geography is not just a subject studied in books. It is real. It can be seen, touched, explored, and understood through places like Menengai. By creating time for learners to visit and study the caldera, the CFA helps make education more practical, memorable, and inspiring. Through these education tours, Menengai Community Forest Association is raising awareness among young people and encouraging them to become future conservation champions, responsible visitors, and informed citizens who understand the value of protecting natural heritage. Supporting Conservation Through Water Access: A 3,000-Litre Tank Handover to Rescue Team Tree Nursery Group In support of conservation and community-led environmental restoration, Menengai Community Forest Association today handed over a 3,000-litre water tank and other support items to the Rescue Team Tree Nursery Group. This support is part of the CFA’s continued commitment to strengthening community tree nurseries, promoting reafforestation, and empowering local groups that are actively involved in raising seedlings for conservation work. Water is one of the most important needs in nursery development, and this tank will help the group improve seedling care, maintain nursery activities, and support the growth of healthy trees for future planting. Tree nursery groups play a vital role in the conservation chain. They raise seedlings, protect young plants, support tree planting campaigns, and contribute directly to the restoration of Menengai’s natural environment. By supporting such groups with practical resources, the CFA is helping conservation move from words into action. The handover was also a moment of reflection and solidarity. Menengai Community Forest Association joined the Rescue Team Tree Nursery Group in mourning the loss of one of their members, Mzee Evans Mureu. His contribution, presence, and commitment to the group will be remembered with respect and gratitude. Planting Hope: 10,000 Seedlings Planted at Menengai Forest It was a great day of conservation action as members of the Menengai Community Forest Association came together to plant 10,000 seedlings at Menengai Forest. This tree planting exercise reflects our continued commitment to restoring forest cover, protecting the Menengai ecosystem, and promoting community participation in conservation. Every seedling planted is a step toward a greener, healthier, and more sustainable Menengai for present and future generations. The activity brought together members of the community who understand that conservation is not a one-day event, but a shared responsibility.
